Eviction
questions & answers
Question: I just went to court for nonpayment of rent and I received a judgment for 5 days. I’m trying to find out the next step or how much time do I have to find a place to go before I’m locked out of my house
Answer: Ordinarily, when an eviction judgment is entered, the order will say that a “writ of restitution” will be issued on a particular day (usually 5 or so days later). That is the day on which an evicted tenant may be locked out or removed from the premises.
