Landlord and Tenant Rights and Responsibilities
questions & answers
Question: Am I still responsible for my rent if the house is unlivable due to a fire? Does the landlords insurance cover the rent? Would my rental insurance cover the rent?
Answer: You would need to check with your landlord and/or insurance company. Sometimes the rental property is covered on the outside structure only. If you have rental insurance, you may want to check to see if it covers the inside of rental besides just property (personal). You may also wish to see an attorney to find out what your rights are.
