Child Support

questions & answers

Question: My ex-husband's boss has been withholding money from his paychecks for child support, but is not sending in the payments to the clearinghouse. What can we do about this?

Answer:

The following is provided for general information only. To find out how the law applies to a specific situation, contact an attorney directly.  According to Arizona Department of Economic Security’s FAQs, employers who do not comply with the terms of an Income Withholding Order (IWO) may be liable for amounts not paid to the support payment clearinghouse, reasonable attorney fees, and other costs.  You can contact the Department of Child Support Enforcement to report the employer and obtain further assistance with this matter.
